This diagram shows the relationship between different types of cross-connects. The main cross-connect links areas and components on the network, such as equipment rooms and horizon tal cross-connects, to intermediate cross-connects. The horizontal cross-connect provides connec- tivity between horizontal cabling and other types of cabling on the network, such as backbone and equipment cabling. At the intermediate cross-connect, backbone cabling between the main cross- connect and the horizontal cross-connect is terminated and managed.
